PARKVIEW, MO – University of Jamestown Men’s Volleyball finished 1-5 in the three-day Pirate Invitational with losses Saturday to Morningside and Kansas Wesleyan at the Breckon Sports Center.

The Jimmies (2-6) lost in four sets to Morningside, then were swept by Kansas Wesleyan.

Morningside def. Jamestown, 25-22, 25-14, 24-26, 25-20
Jamestown was held a to a .163 hitting percentage and committed 33 attack errors.

Natan Alves hit 14 kills for the Mustangs with an ace, a solo block, five block assists and nine digs.

Tomasz Swiderski had 22 kils and six digs for the Jimmies. Gaven Hackley had 20 kills, eight blocks, two digs and two assists. Gabriel Ocasio recorded 50 set assists.

Kansas Wesleyan def. Jamestown, 25-16, 25-23, 25-23
Again, Jamestown struggled with their hitting, averaging just .136 and committing 24 attack errors, including 12 in the final set. Kansas Wesleyan hit .315.

Colin Lindo and Justin Burras led the Coyotes with nine kills each, with Zayin Martinez and Jaron Lindsay striking eight each.

Swiderski had 10 kills, a solo blocks and 10 digs for UJ.

The UJ Invitational will open Thursday on Harold Newman Arena. Five matches over three days will be the only home matches for the Jimmies this season. Jamestown’s first match will be against Benedictine University Mesa on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
