JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Blue Jay Boys Hockey hadn’t played in a week before Saturday. But they apparently weren’t bothered at all by that.
Jackson Maddock and Gavin Schaefer each scored twice as the Blue Jays led 6-0 through two periods and eased to a 6-3 win over Hazen-Beulah at Wilson Arena.
Maddock scored the power play goal of the day for the Blue Jays (11-4-0-1, 9-4-0-1 West) at 7:20 of the first period, followed by a Bennett Goehner goal 2:56 later and Jamestown led 2-0 after the first period.
Jamestown then put the game away with a four-goal second period. Schafer scored after only 14 seconds and Maddock potted a shorthanded goal at 3:04. Jacoby Traut scored with 1:42 left in the middle period, followed by the second by Schafer 1:20 later for a six-goal Blue Jay lead.
Hazen-Beulah (0-16-0-0, 0-9-0-0) scored all their goals in the third period on the power play, one by Wyatt Grueneich and two by Bradyn Braithwaite.
Cooper Kirkeby stopped 14 shots. Jamestown had a big shot advantage of 51-17.
Jamestown will play on the road Monday against the EDC’s West Fargo at the West Fargo Sports Arena.
