VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – St. Catherine School is excited to announce that with the blessing of the Parish, Finance Council, and Education Board, they are officially moving forward with a school-owned and operated daycare set to open on June 1st, 2025.
Principal Nicholas Lee said this initiative reflects our commitment to serving families within our school, parish, and the broader community by providing high-quality early childhood care rooted in Catholic values.
Lee said as we prepare for this significant expansion, our facility will undergo necessary repairs and upgrades this spring to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. We are committed to maintaining the high standards of excellence that have been a hallmark of St. Catherine School’s 100-year legacy of Catholic education.
A Mission-Driven Approach to Early Childhood Education
He said at St. Catherine Daycare, we will follow a developmental milestone curriculum tailored to each classroom, ensuring that children are supported at their levels. Catholic education is built on respecting the dignity of the whole child, fostering their academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. We strive to form a partnership with parents, recognizing them as the first and most important teachers of their children, in alignment with Proverbs 22:6 (NASB):
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he grows older, he will not abandon it.”
Hiring & Staffing Plans
Lee said to support this endeavor, we will begin hiring a daycare director, lead teachers, and part-time staff in the coming months. Full-time staff members will be benefit-eligible, and we aim to work with experienced professionals, giving preference to credentialed staff for our lead teacher positions.
