Judith Hazel Olstad, 80, Valley City, North Dakota passed away Thursday, January 23 in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 31 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City with visitation from 12pm-1pm at the church.

Judy was born in Valley City, North Dakota on October 2, 1944, to Ted and Hazel (Haarsager) Orness. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1962. She married Ronald Olstad in 1964 in Valley City.

Judy and Ron lived in Valley City. She loved being a mom to their two sons, Kevin and Mark. She followed Ron’s career and stayed home with the boys along with daycare in her home.  Later, she worked in Environmental Services at Jamestown Hospital and then St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Judy and Ron retired and were able to spend time playing cards with friends and attending car shows as members of the Bridge City Cruisers. She also loved exercising with the Aquafit group and playing in many card groups. Judy’s creativity was shown through her embroidery and making her own cards.

She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, participating in quilting and Bible study groups. She cherished all her friends.

Judy is survived by her sons Kevin (Trish) Waconia, Minnesota, Mark (Melody) East Grand Forks, Minnesota; grandchildren Addison, Loren, Aidan, Christina (Connor), Casey (Austin), Cameron (Ashley), Maren and Maisy. She is also survived by her brothers Stan (Sharon) Orness, Devils Lake, North Dakota, Terry (Julie) Orness, Colorado; a sister Barbara Orness, Devils Lake and brother-in-law Mel (Marilyn) Olstad, Valley City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron and in laws Norman and Lila Olstad.
