Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The RV Oakes Tornadoes boys got their biggest win in years as they got a top 5 victory against the #4 team in the state taking down the Hankinson Pirates in 4 solid quarters by a final score of 59-44.

The game started out with the Pirates jumping out to a 9-2 lead. Braysen Sagert and Roddek Schmit would then get hot and lead the Tornadoes to a 11-10 lead to end the 1st quarter. They would not give that lead up for the rest of the night as Beau Thorpe and Eddie Garza would get hot in the 2nd quarter to build up the lead. The Tornadoes would shut down top prospect Raeshaun Earl and Andrew Jean of the pirates in the 1st half only allowing 9 for Earl and 4 for Jean. Oakes would take a 26-20 lead to the locker rooms. Oakes would go 12/21 in the first while forcing Hankinson to only 8/24.

The Tornadoes would continue to play solidly through the 3rd quarter once again keeping Earl quiet through the quarter only allowing him 5 in the quarter while the Tornadoes kept building the lead to 40-30. The 4th started with Hankinson and Oakes keeping apace with each other as Oakes built the lead to 15 before Hankinson went on a run to cut the lead back to 9. Sagert would then pop off with 2 treys and Thorpe would pick up one as well to lock up the victory at 59-44.

The leading all around scorer was Raeshaun Earl with 23. The leading scorer for Oakes was Beau Thorpe with 17. Brayson Sagert had  13 and earned himself the Bank North Player of the Game.
