JAMESTOWN – It was senior day and parent recognition day Saturday at Wilson Arena and the Blue Jay boys hockey team impressed the home crowd with a 3-1 West Region win over Williston.
The Coyotes struck first when senior Chase Collings banged in his team leading 13th of the season in period one.
Freshman Parker Roelfsema drew his team even when he buried his 11th of the season to tie the game at one early in period two.
Vaughn Romsdal gave Jamestown its first lead of the day when he blasted home an unlikely goal when he entered the Williston zone one on four and somehow found space from the right face off circle and beat the Coyotes goalie for his fifth of the season.
Senior Jackson Maddock scored from center ice with an empty net with :29 remaining to seal the game. Maddock leads the team with 12 goals.
Jamestown outshot the Coyotes 37-16 with sophomore goalie Leif Hanson stopping 15 of the 16 shots he faced.
The Jays improve to 10-4-1-1 overall and 8-4-1-1 in West Region play and currently sit in third place with 27 points.
Jamestown has a week off before returning to the ice to face last place Hazen/Beulah next Saturday at Wilson Arena.
