MINOT – For two periods, University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey had the better – finally – of the nation’s number one team. But then, Minot State heaped frustration upon the Jimmies again.
Brett Tataryn scored with 3:41 left Friday to bring Minot State back from 2-0 down for a 4-3 win over Jamestown at MAYSA Arena.
Jamestown (19-7-0, 12-4-0 MCH) has lost the last four meetings with the Beavers after defeating them in October.
Brad Fortin scored his 17th at 6:07 of the first period and Kole Christensson tallied at 14:52 of the second for the Jimmies.
Jay Buchholz cut the UJ lead to 2-1 at 1:04 of the third period, with Logan Rands tying the game for Minot State just 2:04 later.
A power play goal by Mario Decapite at 4:33 of the third period sent the lead back to Jamestown, but Buchholz scored again with 8:19 left.
Two regular season games remain for the Jimmies. They will be against the University of Mary in Bismarck on February 14 and 15.
