SYLVANIA, OH – There is no conference title for which to play this season.  There will be just five home matches.  And the future is far from certain for University of Jamestown Men’s Volleyball.  But this season has opened well.

UJ began the campaign with a win in the debut of new Head Coach Downey Huynh Thursday, defeating 14th-ranked Campbellsville (KY) 25-16, 25-18, 14-25, 25-13 in the Gray Wolf Invitational at Lourdes University’s Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Gaven Hackley paced the Jimmies with 17 kills (.583), three digs, a solo block, two block assists and an ace.  Michal Niemiec had 14 kills, six digs, a solo block, three block assists and six set assists.  Tomasz Swiderski registered nine kills, two blocks, three digs and three aces.  Gabriel Ocasio had 33 set assists.

Three Hackley kills and five Tiger errors turned a 13-13 tie into a 21-13 Jimmie lead in the first set.

Swiderski gave Jamestown a kill and an ace in a 6-2 run to open the second set.

In the third set, Pedro Zavatini scored two kills and two blocks in a 12-1 run for Campbellsville.

UJ held Campbellsville to -.077 while blasting 17 kills in the final set.

On Friday in Sylvania, the Jimmies will play Hope International and the host, Lourdes.
