Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—Carrington picked up a pair of wins over class B East region opponents Pembina County North (PCN) 34-26 and Northern Lights 47-25.
The Cardinals started the night with a 34-26 win over the Grizzlies of PCN. Brothers Ridge and Skye Kramlich opened the night with a technical fall (TF)19-2 victory for Ridge at 107 pounds over Johnny Robinson and Skye followed with a fall at 1:16 over Henry Kemnitz to give the Cards an 11-0 lead. Dru Carr (121) picked up a TF victory 20-4 over Oakly Brown at 5:18 of the third period extending the lead to 16-0. Oscar Martinez (127) would get the Grizzlies on the board with a fall at 5:48 over Jaxson Wilson. Both teams forfeited at 133 setting up the best match of the dual with Logan Werner defeating Gabe Clifton 1-0 and cut the team score to 16-9. Werner, ranked number 5 at 133 pounds was pushed to the limit as Clifton had only wrestled 3 matches prior to this match due to injury. Nic Garber (145), Corbin Clifton (152), Max Ciubotareanu (160), and Callen Garber (172) all picked up wins and extended the lead to 34-9 before PCN won the final 3 matches of the dual.
The Cardinals gave up an opening match forfeit to Bode Henderson (number 1 rated 121 pounder) from Northern Lights and trailed 6-0. It was all Cards after that winning 6 of the next 7 matches to take a 35-9 lead. NL would win 3 of the final 5 matches but the Cards would win the dual easily with a 47-25 margin. Dru Carr (127) won by TF, Gabe Clifton (139) won by fall at 1:57, Nic Garber (145) by fall at 3:46, Corbin Clifton (152) by fall at :49, Max Ciubotareanu (160) by fall 3:35, Kirby Freeman (215) fall at 2:42, and a forfeit win for Ridge Kramlich (107). NL picked up wins from Ian McCloud 4-3 over Jaxson Wilson at 133, top rated Cole Henderson at 189 over Jacob Hinrichs by fall at :57, Brett Tastad by fall over Charlie Jorgenson at :33, and a MD for Keenan Gores at 114 over Skye Kramlich, 10-1.
The Cardinals will travel to Lisbon this Friday and Saturday with coverage on Friday on THE CARDINAL 1600 KDAK and Saturday on KDDR until 10:00 A.M. and back to KDAK.
