VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Valley City’s Paving Improvement District (130) project has been put on hold following a successful protest from effected property owners along 2nd Street N from 3rd Ave NW to 5th Ave NE in Valley City.
Under the plan, approximately 10 city blocks would be fully and or partially reconstructed at a cost of $9.8 million.
The Valley City property owners do not want to see money wasted. They also don’t want to see things being replaced that have useful life remaining.
City Finance Director Brenda Klein said the city will go back to the drawing board. She talked about the next steps the city will take in this process.
Currently, those residents are requesting the city provide more time to address concerns and pinpoint critical design decisions. The city property owners say they are looking for fiscal responsibility and transparency from the city of Valley City.
