BISMARCK – What was for quite a while thought to be a breeze for Legacy/Bismarck became a big scare thanks to Jamestown Blue Jay Girls Hockey.
Jamestown turned a 3-0 whitewash into a one-goal game in the third period Tuesday before losing 3-2 to Legacy/Bismarck at the VFW Sports Center.
Grace Allmaras brought the Blue Jays within 3-1 with a five-on-three power play goal with 6:04 left in the third period. Stella Belzer scored another power play goal only 12 seconds later. Ellie Krueger had the primary assist on both goals. Jamestown (4-12-0-0, 3-12-0-0 League), which had only four shots in the first two periods combined, had 12 in the third period, but Legacy/Bismarck (7-5-0-1, 7-4-0-1) held on.
Bailey Bitz, Ainsley Johnson and Isabelle Ruud scored for Legacy/Bismarck.
Jamestown will host Fargo North-South Thursday at Wilson Arena.
