JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Firefighters worked for nearly 8 hours to put out a fire at the University of Jamestown student cafeteria on Sunday, January 19th.
The fire broke out early Sunday morning around 1:37am and was quickly contained to the kitchen and dining area. Offices and the campus bookstore in the building were not affected. No one was hurt
Jamestown Public Schools is allowing the university to use its kitchens to prepare meals.
Valley City State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead are bringing in additional resources. The kitchen and dining area could be closed for some time.
In a statement on the university’s website, President Polly Peterson said, “We are incredibly grateful for the local and rural fire departments, police, JPS, and others who have stepped in to help us so quickly. This is a reminder of how special and supportive our community is in moments like these.”
