MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Defender Mikela Nimetz scored twice Saturday as 13th-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey overwhelmed Minnesota 6-1 at Ridder Arena.

Laramie Prell put the Gophers into the lead 10:10 into the first period, but Chloe Gauthier scored with 3:24 left in the first.  Jaeda Clayton then scored with just nine seconds left in the first period and UJ led 2-1, not to trail again.

Nimetz scored the first of her two goals at 16:23 of the second period, then Mackenzie Couling scored another last-minute goal for Jamestown (5-11-2) with 44 seconds left and the Jimmies lead 4-1 through two periods.

Kiran Vugeteveen’s 10th goal at 41 seconds of the third period expanded the UJ lead to 5-1 and Nimetz scored her second shortly after at 1:44.

Jamestown had a big 41-18 shots on goal advantage.  In the Jimmie goal, Katelyn Galuska made 17 saves for the win.

UJ will play Minnesota at Ridder Arena again on Sunday.
