JAMESTOWN – Anthony Madigan scored twice and had three assists Sunday as St. Thomas drilled University of Jamestown ACHA Division 2 Men’s Hockey 8-4 at Wilson Arena.
Tanner Freed scored twice for the Jimmies (14-12), including the game’s first goal with only 52 seconds gone.
But Brady Knorr, Zach Simon and Drew Fisher scored later in the frame for the Tommies, who led 3-1 after one period.
Dylan Lewis scored 5:04 into the second and St. Thomas led 4-1. Jamestown then came back on goals by Kalob Paquin at 10:31 and James Poole, his team-leading 19th, at 13:59. Only eight seconds later, Madigan scored the first of his two goals for St. Thomas. Aidan Clements scored at 15:49 and the Tommies’ lead was 6-3 after 40 minutes.
Wyatt Olson scored 1:19 into the third period, followed by Madigan’s second of the game and 20th of the season 41 seconds later. Freed scored again at 7:35 for Jamestown.
UJ goalie Xavier Baker was busy, making 44 saves as St. Thomas had 52 shots to Jamestown’s 30.
UJ will play North Dakota’s ACHA Division 2 team on Friday and Saturday in Grand Forks.
