JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Blue Jay Girls Hockey has a winning streak for the first time this season.
Ellie Krueger and Layni Bakalar each scored twice and Stella Belzer scored the game-winner Friday as Jamestown stopped Williston 7-5 at Wilson Arena.
Krueger set up Belzer’s winner at 10:17 of the third period for the Blue Jays (4-10-0-0, 3-10-0-0 League). A power play goal by Lexi Allmaras with 4:55 left gave Jamestown its final two-goal lead.
Bakalar and Krueger scored in the first 5:49 for an early 2-0 Jamestown lead before Anyka Wiedrich scored at 6:53 in the first for Williston (3-10-0-0, 3-10-0-0). Tylea Sortland gave the Jays a 3-1 lead at 8:15, then Julie Heller scored for the Coyotes at 9:11 and Jamestown led 3-2 after the first period.
Lexi Corona tied the game for Williston 39 seconds into the second period, then Bakalar scored at 14:47 and Jamestown led again 4-3. Brooklyn Ekblad scored with 27 second left in the middle period for Williston to tie the game at 4-4.
Kruger scored at 1:32 of the third period before another tying goal by Corona at 3:34.
Jamestown had 35 shots to Williston’s 27. Ady Bakalar made 22 saves in the Blue Jay goal.
Jamestown will host Dickinson Saturday at Wilson Arena.
