WILLISTON – Rough shooting doomed the Jamestown girls Friday on the road. And despite a good effort, the Blue Jay boys took another loss.
Williston swept a varsity basketball doubleheader from Jamestown at Jon Cole Gym, with the Coyote girls winning 60-45 over the Blue Jays and the Williston boys winning 81-71.
Girls: Williston 60, Jamestown 45
Jamestown (3-7, 1-6 WDA) trailed by only 25-20 at halftime but could not overcome 26 percent shooting.
Averi Austreim paced Williston (6-3, 2-3) with 22 points, three three-pointers and four rebounds. Mekiah Klumker also hit three threes and scored 12 with seven rebounds.
Macey Neumiller scored 17 points to lead Jamestown with four made three-pointers. Adisyn Yunck scored nine.
Boys: Williston 81, Jamestown 71
Despite big games for both Thomas Newman and Jaxon Kolpin, Williston led all the way, except for a brief Blue Jay lead in the first half.
Bridger Johnson led 20 points with three three-pointers, five assists and four steals for Williston (2-8, 1-6), who snapped a six-game losing streak. Solomon Harris dropped in 18 points with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Chance Riveland had 17 points and seven rebounds.
Newman had 28 on 11-of-19 shooting with four assists for Jamestown (0-9, 0-7). Kolpin scored 22 on seven-of-14 shooting with six rebounds. Each hit one three-pointer.
On Tuesday, both Blue Jay teams will meet Minot North for the first time. The Jamestown girls will host the Sentinels at 6:00 PM at Jerry Meyer Arena. Blue Jay boys will play at Minot North, with coverage beginning at around 7:30 PM on Q101.
