CAYUGA, N.D. (NDHP) – A Cayuga man is facing DUI, Driving without a License and having no insurance charges following a rollover Wednesday, January 15th around 10:49 PM in Sargent County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) said a Chevy Avalanche operated by 44-year-old Gilbert Knowell was traveling eastbound on a minimum maintenance road, drove off the roadway into the south ditch, causing the Chevy Avalanche to roll. The vehicle came to rest on the frozen ice of Lake Tewaukon about 4 miles southeast of Cayuga.

Gilbert Knowell sustained none life threatening injuries, and was transported by Oakes ambulance to the Oakes Community Hospital.

He was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license and no insurance.

Two other male passengers escaped serious injury in the rollover crash. Neither were injured. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
