DEVILS LAKE – After some tight losses in a long losing streak, this was what Jamestown Blue Jay Girls Hockey needed.
Grace Allmaras and Layni Bakalar each scored twice Tuesday as Jamestown broke a seven-game losing streak with a resounding 6-1 win over Devils Lake at Burdick Arena.
Ellie Krueger scored once and had two assists for the Blue Jays (3-10-0-0, 2-10-0-0 League), who had not won since December 10.
Krueger started the scoring 4:45 into the first period.
Allmaras’ shorthanded tally at 8:01 of the second period extended the Jamestown lead to 2-0. At 11:36, Krueger set Allmaras for her second and a 3-0 Blue Jay lead after two periods.
Krueger had another assist on Bakalar’s first of her two goals, a power play marker at 2:47 of the third period. Julia McIvor broke the shutout for Devils Lake (0-10-0-1, 0-10-0-1) at 4:44. Stella Belzer scored at 9:16, followed by Bakalar’s second of the period at 9:54.
Jamestown easily outshot Devils Lake 39-16. Ady Bakalar made 15 saves.
The Blue Jays will host Williston Friday at 3:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
