Melvin A. Muller, 89, of Jamestown, ND, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at SMP Health Ave Maria.
Melvin was born on July 4, 1935, in Gackle, ND, the son of Gottlieb and Eva (Geinger) Muller. He attended local rural schools, receiving his elementary education while helping his father on the family farm.
In 1960, Melvin married Loretta Veil in Gackle. They made their home on the Jacob Veil farmstead, assisting area farmers. After Loretta’s passing, Melvin married Delores (Krieger) Gums on September 30, 1977, in Gackle. The couple continued to live in Gackle, where Melvin farmed and did custom baling for 23 years. He also drove a Cenex propane truck until his retirement in 1999.
In 2019, Melvin and Delores moved to Jamestown. Following Delores’s passing on September 30, 2019, Melvin lived at Edgewood until moving to Ave Maria Village in October 2023.
Melvin was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gackle and served on the Gackle Coop Board.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristie (Dan) Hermanson, of Zimmerman, MN; two stepchildren, Rodney (Robin) Gums and Rayette (Don) Brown, both of Jamestown, ND; eight grandchildren, Tanner Hermanson, Ryan Hermanson, Karly Hermanson, Mike Gums, Amy Remboldt, Matt Walters, Chris Walters, and Jason Gums; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Gums, McKenzie Remboldt, Sheena Walters, Brantley Walters, Emma Leigh Walters, Taylor Moser, Alyssa Gums, and Brady Gums; and one sister, Esther Maier, of Wishek, ND.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores, two stepsons, Roger and Randy Gums, and his brother, Leroy Muller.
Visitation: 5:00–7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Burial: Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND.
