VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Police Department would like to inform the pubic of a rental scam going around. The scammers are using pictures of different rental companies’ properties and claim to be the rental company. The scammer will attempt to solicit a down payment in order to show the property to the proposed renter and never contact the renter again.

Police Chief Nick Horner said this often happens over Facebook Marketplace or similar social media outlets. He said the Valley City Police Department would like to encourage the public to be cautious when making purchases or deals
over the Internet. Use the rental companies’ website and verify who you are speaking with in order to avoid such issues.
