LAS VEGAS, NV – Kole Christensson scored in the second round of the shootout Saturday as fifth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey edged third-ranked UNLV 5-4 at City National Arena, stopping the Rebels’ 15-game winning streak.

Christensson was the only one of the six skaters to score in the shootout, beating UNLV goalie Jeremy Forman.

The Jimmies (18-9-0) rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the third period to force overtime.  Jordan Baranesky scored with 11:33 left to cut the Rebels’ lead to 4-3.  Zane McDonald tied the game with a power play goal, his fifth, with 1:49 left in regulation.

Mario Decapite and Malachi Franklin scored the other goals for Jamestown.

Parker Williams, Heath Mensch, Caleb Strong and Mattias Del Monte scored for UNLV (17-1-0-1), who hadn’t lost since November 19.

Brandon Weare made 38 saves during normal play, then stopped all three shots in the shootout.

Jamestown will play Midland Friday and Saturday in Fremont, Nebraska.
