FARGO, ND – (NDHP) – On January 8th, 2025, at approximately 4:03 PM Barnes County dispatched a reckless driver call indicating a Nissan passenger car was traveling eastbound on I-94. The Nissan was reported to have been swerving all over the roadway, and brake checking people.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) responded to this call and located the Nissan driving recklessly on I-94 near MM 320. Troopers attempted to stop the Nissan. The Nissan fled travelling eastbound on I-94 from MM 320. A Trooper was able to utilize a Stinger spike strip to deflate three of the Nissan’s tires near MM 346. The Nissan continued to flee taking the Sheyenne exit into West Fargo. The NDHP terminated pursuit efforts in the best interest of the public’s safety. A short while later the Nissan was located by a NDHP Trooper on I-94 eastbound near MM 347.
The driver of the Nissan 23-year-old Makayla Ryan from Worthington, MN was taken into custody and transported to the Cass County Jail.
Ryan was charged with the following:
1. Felony reckless endangerment
2. Felony fleeing a police officer
3. Misdemeanor DUI-Drugs
4. Infraction Possession of THC paraphernalia.
The NDHP was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and West Fargo Police Department. No injuries resulted in this incident.
