BISMARCK – The Blue Jay boys hockey team suffered a West Region defeat Tuesday night in the Capital city as Bismarck Legacy picked up a 6-2 victory.
After falling behind 2-0 after one period, Jamestown responded with a couple quick goals in period two that knotted the score courtesy of junior Bennet Goehner, his fourth of the season, and sophomore Brady Nenow, his first of the season.
The Sabers scored the go ahead goal with only 6.5 seconds remaining in period two, thanks to a power play goal by senior Isaac Lewis, his second of the game, and the Sabers took a 3-2 lead after two.
Legacy then salted the game away with three goals in just over two minutes early in the third period. Harrison Johnson scored at 3:48, with Caleb Johnson extending the lead to 5-2 just 12 seconds later. Harrison Johnson scored again, this time on the power play, at 5:54.
Jamestown outshot Legacy 32-26 with sophomore goalie Leif Hanson stopping 20 shots for the Jays.
The Blue Jays slip to 5-3-0-1 overall and 4-3-0-1 in West Region play.
Next for Jamestown is a home game with Bottineau/Rugby on Friday at 7:30 PM at Wilson Arena.
