VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCPR) – Valley City Parks and Recreation (VCPR) is excited to launch a new community Safety Series to help our community start the year on a safe and healthy note. This free, weekly series, beginning January 16, 2025, will cover a variety of essential safety and wellness topics, offering practical tips and hands-on demonstrations from local health, wellness, and safety experts. The series will take place every Thursday at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center, and no registration is required.
Each session will feature valuable insights from key community organizations, including the Valley City Fire Department, CHI Mercy Health, City-County Health, the Valley City Police Department, the Abused Persons Outreach Center (APOC), and Green Dot. Participants can expect to walk away with the knowledge and skills to handle a range of situations—from emergency preparedness to preventing opioid misuse and protecting against scams.
Safety Series Schedule:
· January 16th – APOC/Green Dot (10:30 AM)
Learn about the services provided by the Abused Persons Outreach Center and how to be an active bystander with Green Dot.
· January 23rd – Valley City Fire Department (5:30 PM)
Discover fire safety essentials with demonstrations of gear and tools, plus a Q&A session with local firefighters.
· January 30th – CHI Mercy Health (5:30 PM)
Get hands-on training in hands-only CPR and AED, and learn life-saving techniques for emergency situations.
· February 6th – Valley City Police Department (5:30 PM)
Gain safety tips for everyday life and learn how to recognize and avoid scams.
· February 13th – City-County Health (5:30 PM)
Learn about Ready Stations and how to respond to opioid overdoses, as well as how you can help keep your community safer with access to AEDs and Naloxone.

The VCPR Safety Series offers an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence in your ability to handle emergency situations. We encourage all community members to join us each Thursday from January 16 – February 13 at the Gaukler Family Wellness Center—no registration required!
