VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With the North Dakota Legislature convening on Tuesday, Jan. 7, two local civic groups are planning monthly informational forums regarding current legislation.

The first forum will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Hi-Liner Activity Center (HAC), Valley City High School. Please use the doors on the corner of 4th Street and 2nd Avenue NW.

In addition to the initial Jan. 25 event at the HAC, forums will also be held on Feb. 22 in Valley City State University’s Skoal Room; on March 22 at the HAC; and on April 12 in the Skoal Room. District 24 Sen. Michael Wobbema, Rep. Dwight Kiefert and Rep. Daniel Johnston have been invited to participate.

District 24 citizens are encouraged to bring current information to share regarding legislation on topics that are important to them. Examples of likely areas of interest include: property tax reform, K-12 schools, infrastructure needs, emergency medical services, economic development, veterans’ affairs, wetland drainage policy, library censorship issues, and mental healthcare services.

If you know that you would like to have a certain bill or topic discussed, please call or text LWV volunteer Vicki Voldal Rosenau (701-490-4883) before Jan. 25, so that time can be allotted accordingly.

Local League of Women Voters volunteers and the Valley City-Barnes County Development Corporation are jointly hosting the series of four Saturday-morning forums during throughout the 2025 Legislative Session.

Coffee and cookies will be provided.
