BILLINGS, MT – Jayden Wiest keeps shooting and University of Jamestown Women’s Basketball keeps winning.

Wiest, a true freshman, established a career high with 21 points Sunday as Jamestown easily earned its ninth straight victory, 85-47 over Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in the Green & Gold Classic at Rocky Mountain College’s Fortin Education Center.

Wiest hit a three-pointer to end an 11-0 first quarter run after Southern Alberta had scored the first four points of the game.  Jamestown (11-1) led 19-9 after one quarter.

Wiest and Kate Cordes, who totaled 16 points, had 12 of the 20 points for the Jimmies in the second quarter and UJ led 39-25 at halftime.

Wiest and Julia Thoms each scored five third-quarter points as the Jimmies led by as many as 24 points doing the period and 60-38 through three quarters.

Reserves played in the final 10 minutes for Jamestown and Reagan Johnson tied her career high with 11 points.

Wiest was five-of-10 from the field, all three-pointers.  Cordes hit four-of-seven threes.  Hannah Hagel scored eight with seven rebounds.  Kate Busek, Hali Savela and Jessika Lofstrom each dished out three assists.  Thoms made three steals.

Brook Baker and Kitwana Sparks scored 11 points apiece for Southern Alberta (8-2).

Jamestown will return to NSAA play on Friday against VCSU at the W.E. Osman Fieldhouse in Valley City.  Coverage will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday on Q101.
