CARRINGTON (NewsDakota)- For the first time since the 2022-23 season, Carrington boys basketball has a winning streak.

Josh Bickett scored fourteen of his season-high 22 after halftime and the Cardinals used a big third quarter run to pull away from the Watford City Wolves in a 62-49 win on Saturday in the Carrington Holiday Shootout.

The Wolves (0-5) came out strong in the first quarter behind a balanced attack for a 17-12 lead, but Carrington (3-2) got eight from Bickett in the second quarter as the Cardinals led at the half 30-26.

Watford City scored the first eight points of the third quarter before Carrington responded with a game-deciding 16-2 run led by Bickett and Taylen Mehring for a 44-36 lead.  The lead would get to 50-38 before the Wolves hit three straight three-pointers to cut the lead to 52-47, but Carrington closed on another 10-2 run.

Carrington have their first winning record since the 2022-23 season and return to play in the Ramsey County Tournament against Nelson County on Thursday with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 5:45 PM.
