WAHPETON, N.D. (NDHP) – A Fargo man is facing several charges in North Dakota and South Dakota stemming from an incident that starting in South Dakota and ended in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said on Friday, December 27th, 2024 at approximately 12:04 am, a Roberts County, SD Sheriff’s Deputy pursued a 2008 Lincoln MKZ northbound on Interstate-29 into Richland County in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) responded to assist and took over the pursuit near MM 37 on I-29 in Richland County. A trooper was able to utilize a Stinger spike strip to deflate two of the Lincoln’s tires near MM 41. A short time later, another trooper utilized a PIT (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver to cause the Lincoln to enter the median and become disabled. The driver of the Lincoln, 40-year-old Gregory Richards of Fargo, was taken into custody and transported to the Richland County Jail. He was charged with felony fleeing (2nd offense in 3 yrs) and misdemeanor driving under the influence-drugs, driving under suspension (4th offense in 5 yrs) and reckless endangerment.
A female passenger in the Lincoln was not arrested and transported to a residence in Fargo.
Additional charges against Gregory Richards are also pending in Roberts County, South Dakota.
