THOMPSON (NewsDakota)- When a team has a lot of length, there are several ways it can impact a basketball game.  And on Friday night, the Thompson Tommies took full advantage of their length.

A shorthanded Carrington, who played most of the game with a six-man rotation, were held to seven total field goals as Thompson pulled away after halftime in a 61-28 loss in the Region II opener for both teams.

The game started somewhat slowly, with the Cardinals (1-2, 0-2) smothering the Tommies defensively through a slog of a first half that saw Thompson (3-0, 2-0) lead at the break 24-17.  But after halftime, the Tommies pulled away with a big third quarter, led by Karter Peterson, who finished with a game high 20 points.

Josh Bickett led Carrington with ten points while Drew Matt scored all six of his points in the third quarter.  Taylen Mehring scored all six of his points in the second quarter.

The Cardinals are back in action in the Carrington Shootout on Friday night against Nedrose with coverage on KDAK The Cardinal beginning at 7:15 PM.
