VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Valley City held Fargo Oak Grove without points for the first six minutes of the game, then responded with a 12-0 run late to put the game away in a 56-35 win over the Grovers Tuesday night in Fargo.
Valley City led 19-7 after a quarter, a first quarter that saw no scoring for Oak Grove until the 1:58 mark of the quarter. The Hi-Liners used a relentless jump-switch that the Grovers couldn’t solve until late in the quarter.
Meanwhile, Dacota Potratz would hit a pair of first-half threes, and back it up with two more field goals, leading the Hi-Liners with 10 at the break. Valley City led 35-16 at halftime.
Valley City opened a 39-16 lead early in the second half, but Oak Grove would cut the lead to 44-32 in the fourth quarter. Katie Burchill responded with five straight points, powering a 12-0 run that pushed the lead back to 24.
Burchill had a big fourth quarter, finishing with a double-double in points in rebounds, scoring 20, nine in the fourth quarter, and grabbing 11 rebounds. Potratz finished with 10, and Skye Nielson added nine.
Valley City is scheduled to travel to #4 Kindred Thursday. The Hi-Liners entered the night ranked fifth.
