Winton Earl Rohwedder passed away on November 28, 2024, at home in Fargo, North Dakota
with his wife, Lila, by his side.
Winton (Windy) was born on December 21, 1924, in Greene, Iowa, to John and Dorothy (Sturtz)
Rohwedder. He attended schools in Waverly, Iowa. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United
States Navy, serving on the SS Typhoon from 1943 to 1946. He fought in the Pacific Theater
during World War II.
Windy married Lila Mae Krebs on February 4, 1950, in Waverly. He is survived by Lila, his loving
wife of 75 years; sons Michael (Athanassia), Andrew (Janet), and Cedric; four grandchildren,
Teresa, Kristel, Candace, and Michael Jr.; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Gabrielle,
Gibson, Destiny, Charity, and Asher.
Windy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; brothers, Ardene (Gus) and
Russell; sister, Marvel; son, Martin; daughter-in-law Kathy; and great-grandson, Nicholas.
The funeral service for Windy will be 2 pm Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Faith Lutheran
Church, Valley City, North Dakota. Burial will be in Faith Cemetery, rural Valley City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City.
