VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Free Planetarium Show at Valley City State University -Double Feature Saturday, December 21st at 1:00 p.m Room 309 Rhoades Science Center (Elevator available by west entrance)
1:00 P.M.: It’s About Time A lighthearted look at the various ways time has been calculated since early people first began observing the sun, moon, and constellations.
1:30 P.M.: Live Night Sky Demonstration How does the planetarium machine work? Including a little mythology, a little science, and a little Non-science!
And the community also is invited to Medicine Wheel Park (205 Winter Show Road SE) on Saturday, December 21 at 4:30 pm to witness the position of the setting Sun on the Winter Solstice. There will be no big parade with 76 trombones, but there will be the opportunity to witness the farthest south sunset of the year. Sharing this moment with others and knowing that this marks the return of the Sun northward always makes it feel warmer than the thermometer indicates.
