MANDAN – December continues to be diabolical for University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey.

The fifth-ranked Jimmies couldn’t hold a 3-1 lead Friday as the University of Mary scored the game’s last four goals in a 5-3 win over Jamestown at the Starion Sports Complex, the Jimmies’ third straight defeat this month.

In the second period, the comeback began for the Marauders (16-5-0-0) with two power play goals just 1:14 apart.  Dylan Cunningham scored at 9:35, followed by Alex Senf at 10:49 and the score was 3-3 after 40 minutes.

At 3:21 of the third period, Liam Massie scored the eventual game-winner, his second goal of the night.  Joe Gronholz gave UMary their fifth into an empty net with four seconds remaining.

Massie scored at 11:30 of the first period for the first goal, but Keaton Cline scored his fifth for Jamestown (15-5-0-0) at 13:22, assisted by Mario Decapite and Phillipe Lessard.  Brad Fortin gave the Jimmies a 2-1 lead at 14:15 with his team-leading 15th goal off assists by Griffin Bourassa and Alek Erichuk.

A shorthanded goal by Darius Makse, his 11th, 1:52 into the second period, made the UJ lead 3-1.  Kole Christensson assisted that goal.

Brandon Weare made 27 stops in the Jimmie net.

Jamestown will complete the home-and-home series with UMary Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Wilson Arena.
