JAMESTOWN – The holiday “blahs” started long before these holidays for University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey.
The 14th-ranked Jimmies lost for the eighth time in nine games Saturday and were shut out for the fifth time this season, this time by fourth-ranked Midland 4-0 at Wilson Arena.
The Warriors (15-4-1-0) were dominant from the start, outshooting Jamestown (4-10-3-2) 21-3 in the first period and leading 2-0 on goals by Grace Page and Sky Thompson.
Darbi Poole scored twice four minutes apart in the second period, with her second marker on the power play.
Midland had a shot advantage of 44-19. Lilah Drew started in goal for the Jimmies, making 29 saves before being pulled after Poole’s second goal. Katelyn Galuszka took over and stopped all 11 shots she faced.
Jamestown will next play on Friday, January 10 at Wilson Arena against Assiniboine College at 8:00 PM.
