JAMESTOWN – A winless December did not happen for University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey.

Jamestown snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday, winning the back half of a home-and-home series with UMary 3-2 at Wilson Arena.

Brenden Vulcano had a goal and an assist for the Jimmies (16-5-0-0), who had not won since November 24.

Darius Makse knocked in his 12th goal 3:51 into the second period to end a scoreless tie.  Makse’s fifth was assisted by Chase Visser and Alex Erichuk.

With 2:25 left in the second, Vulcano scored his second from Wyatt Johnson and Brad Fortin, who scored his 33rd point of the season.

Hunter Mangan answered for UMary (16-6-0-0) 2:07 into the third period, but a Kaelan Shelton power play goal restored the two-goal Jimmie lead at 3-1.  Vulcano and Erichuk assisted.

A Joe Gronholz power play goal with 3:24 remaining for the Marauders wrote the final margin.

Brandon Weare made 33 saves for the Jimmies.  Each team had 35 shots on goal.

Jamestown’s next game will be against UNLV on Friday, January 10 at Las Vegas.
