JAMESTOWN – 40 good minutes for University of Jamestown ACHA Women’s Hockey Friday were followed by 24 bad ones and more frustration.

Callie Maguire scored her second goal of the game with 46 seconds left in overtime Friday as fourth-ranked Midland rallied from a 2-0 deficit through two periods for a 4-3 overtime win over Jamestown at Wilson Arena.  UJ (4-9-3-2) has now lost seven of their last eight games.

Maguire cut the Jamestown lead to 2-1 with a power play goal 7:36 into the third period for Midland (14-4-1-0).  Darbi Poole knotted the game at 11:35.

After a scoreless first period, Jayden Baker’s fourth goal, assisted by Jaeda Clayton, at 4:42 of the second period awarded Jamestown a 1-0 lead.  The Jimmies were up 2-0 after Mackenzie Couling struck for a power play goal, her third, at 11:41, assisted by Kiran Vugteveen and Samantha Beaulac.

In goal, Katelyn Galuszka made 36 saves on 39 shots.

On Saturday, the Jimmies will host Midland again at 3:00 PM at Wilson Arena in Jamestown’s last game before a break for the holidays.
