ST JOHN (NewsDakota)- Well, that’s one way to totally forget last season.
Maddox McIlonie led three in double figures and The Carrington Cardinals rolled to a 65-50 opening night win over St. John on the road Friday night. McIlonie scored twelve of his nineteen after halftime, while Josh Bickett scored twelve of his seventeen after the break and Taylen Mehring added fourteen for the game as the Cardinals pulled away in the middle two quarters.
Carrington (1-0) notched their biggest win since the 2022-23 season, when they defeated Barnes County North in a District 5 qualifier 77-54. The Cardinals recorded two wins by three total points a season ago.
Carrington is back in action for the home opener on Tuesday against #3 ranked Shiloh Christian. Coverage on KDAK The Cardinal begins at approximately 6:45 PM.
