BISMARCK, ND (VCSUVikings.com) Valley City State University Men’s and Women’s track and field competed at the Mike Thorson Open hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D.
VCSU Track and field recorded 13 top eight finishes and four personal bests. Viking women’s track and field finished with fifth of eight and men’s finished sixth of eight.
Viking freshman Parker Jacobson finished sixth in the men’s 60-meter recording a time of 7:18 earning three points for the team. Tayshaun Robinson, a freshman, recorded a school record 8:32 in 60-meter hurdles earning six points for the team score and third place in the event. Zeke Barnick recorded a high jump of 1.93 meters earning second place and eight points. Sophomore Aaron Cutshall finished seventh in the long jump with a 6.67-meter jump earning two points. He was followed by freshman Jordan Mount who got eighth with a 6.53-meter jump earning one point. Cameron Champagnie earned second in the triple jump with a 14.00-meter jump. Cody Frounfelter earned three points and sixth with a 13.48-meter weight throw.
The Viking men won 31 points for a sixth place finish on the day.
Senior Jasmine Barnes recorded a personal best and school record 800-meter time of 2:24:10 good for second place and eight points for team. Sophomore Emma Muggli recorded a personal best with a 1.44-meter high jump earning seventh and two points. Emma Bastian recorded 11.26 shot put throw which earned sixth and three points. Jade Azure throw 11.05 meters in the shot put good for eighth and one point. Caitlin Armbrust earned two points and seventh place with a 9.95-meter triple jump. In the women’s weight throw Jade Azure earned four points and fifth place with a 14.58-meter throw.
Viking women earned 20 points good a fifth place team score.
