BISMARCK – Jimmy Llinas’ weekend went so well that he won two awards.
The North Star Athletic Association gives Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards each week for men’s basketball and Llinas, the Jamestown Jimmie senior forward, won both awards for the week ending November 30.
In the Jimmies’ 85-80 loss to Minnesota State Friday at the Bill Gross Classic at Augustana University, Llinas scored 17 points with 12 rebounds and blocked four shots. As the Jimmies won for the first time ever over Augustana 75-70 on Saturday, Llinas scored 14 with 11 rebounds and again blocked four shots.
Through eight games this season, Llinas is averaging 11 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Through Monday, he was tied for 13th in NAIA men’s basketball with 17 blocked shots and was tied for seventh in the nation in blocks per game with 2.1.
