CARRINGTON (NewsDakota): Edyn Hornaert registered a double-double, Carrington led by nineteen after one quarter and never trailed in a 72-27 opening night win over new Rockford-Sheyenne on Monday night at Cardinal Gymnasium.
The Cardinals (1-0) shot 48 percent from the field (30/62) for the game including 9/27 on threes and forced 23 turnovers from the Rockets (0-1) as Carrington had five players with at least seven points in the win.
Hornaert led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Harper Kollman had ten points and three boards. Isabel Wendel chipped in with nine points and four rebounds as Carrington outrebounded NR-S 32-15.
Carrington open Class A Region II play on Friday night at home against the Grafton Spoilers (1-0). Coverage on KDAK The Cardinal begins at approximately 6:45 PM.
