Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornados got started with their 2024-25 campaign with a 42-20 victory over the Carrington Cardinals in the opening dual of the season.
The dual would start with Trygg Dahlstrom getting a 19-3 technical fall in the 2nd period at 107 over Mason Cook.
At 114 Ben Wagner would win via a 9-4 decision over Skye Kramlich giving Oakes an 8-0 lead.
At 121 Dru Carr would get the pin Sutton Stearns in 28 seconds to make it 8-6.
At 127 Jaren Nelson would earn the major decision over Kallen Wolsky shutting him out 9-0 to make it 12-6.
At 133 Jaxson Wilson would shut out Owen Iverson 10-0 for the major decision cutting the score to 12-10.
At 139 Mathias Dahlstrom would pin Krew Wolsky in 90 seconds to bring the score to 18-10.
Carrington would leave 145 and 160 open giving Zane Awender and Reese Cline victories and making it 30-10.
At 152 Nic Garber would get the major decision over Case Awender with a score of 13-5 making the score 30-14.
At 172 Zade Heier clinched the victory for Oakes winning 13-12 in a hard fought match with Max Ciubotareanu to make it 33-14.
At 189 Callen Garber would pin Carter Ptacek in the 2nd period making it 33-20.
At 215 JJ Haggood would get the 7-3 decision in a grapple fest with Kirby Freeman making it 36-20.
At 285 Max Cline would pin Charles Jorgensen in the 1st period to get the final score of 42-20.
The Bank North Player of the Match was Ben Wagner.
Next for Oakes is another home dual this time against Lisbon on December 5th at 6:00 pm.
