VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) A second half that simply got away from the Vikings led to VCSU’s first road loss in a win for Dakota Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers used a 24-8 run to turn a two-point edge into 18 in the late second half to effectively seal the victory. The Vikings could force only five turnovers for their transition-oriented offense to take advantage of in the second half.

Dakota Wesleyan reversed a two-point loss to the Vikings in Mitchell to improve to 5-2, while the Vikings fell to 6-2.

“We were not tough enough in the post today, and we simply didn’t play to our standard,” said Viking head coach Ryan Montgomery. “We need to get our standard back.”

Lamar Grayson and Agwa Nywesh, who combined for 35 points at Dakota Wesleyan, were held to just 10 as a duo. Tyrell Creger and Odier Olange co-led the Vikings with 11 each.

The Vikings face Montana State-Northern and Rocky Mountain College next Friday and Saturday at Dickinson State University.
