FARGO – The first time didn’t end with a championship, but still ended well for Medina-Pingree/Buchanan.
MPB, ending its first appearance in the NDHSAA State Volleyball Championships, won the Class B third place match Saturday, defeating Thompson 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 at the Fargodome.
Brynn Sorenson led the Thunder (28-7-1) with 18 kills, two aces and 15 digs. Destiny Opp had 7 kills. MPB had 118 digs, led by 26 from Cierra Mack, 23 by Samantha Reister and 17 by Jorgen Tripp. Violet Bohl had 33 set assists, 16 digs, a kill and a block.
Sorenson and Bohl were named to the all-tournament team.
Kiley Huebner had six kills and 12 digs for Thompson (23-14-3).
