FARGO- Apparently, Medina-Pingree-Buchanan did their soaking in of the program’s first-ever state tournament early.
The third-seeded Thunder rolled over Central McLean 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-17) in 54 minutes in the second Class B State Quarterfinal on Thursday afternoon at the FargoDome.
M-P-B never trailed in the match and used a mid-set run in the first to take the opening set. The second set started in stunning fashion, with the Thunder scoring seventeen of the first eighteen points on the serves of Violet Bohl and Cierra Mack. The third set was no different as M-P-B only made seven hitting errors for the match.
Maddie Gefroh led the team with 15 kills, followed by Brynn Sorenson and Jorgen Tripp with nine each. Bohl added two of the teams’ six aces.
The Thunder advance to a semifinal where they will meet South Prairie-Max, who swept aside Kenmare-Bowbells. Coverage on Thunder 98.3 begins at 4:45 PM on Friday.
