JAMESTOWN – Tyla Turnbull scored 8:20 into the third period Sunday as Adrian College, ranked fourth in ACHA Women’s Hockey, held off 14th-ranked University of Jamestown 5-4 at Wilson Arena.
Allison Shaw scored twice for Adrian (13-3-2) in the Bulldogs’ seventh consecutive win.
Kiran Vugteveen had a goal and an assist for the Jimmies (3-9-2), who are 0-6-1 in their last seven games.
Vugteveen’s eighth goal of the season was the game’s first at 2:09 of the first period, but Shaw tied the game for Adrian at 5:03.
A powerplay goal by Makenzie Villiard at 1:10 of the second period put Adrian back in front, and Shaw’s second goal at 8:37 gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead.
Sam Beaulac scored her second of the season on the powerplay for Jamestown at 10:45 and Adrian led 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Hailey Wiltshire scored 21 seconds into the third period for Adrian before UJ came back with two goals in 2:19 to tie the game. Mackenzie Couling scored her second at 1:27 and Rylee Gee potted her fifth at 3:46.
Lilah Drew made 26 saves in net for the Jimmies. Adrian had a 31-28 shot advantage.
Jamestown will play Friday against Dakota College at Bottineau at the Lumberdome.
