VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Here is the Winter Weather Plan for Valley City Public Schools for the 2024-2025 school year that can also be found on our website at www.hiliners.org.
Superintendent Josh Johnson said, we’ve highlighted some other winter related information for students, staff, and parents.  While the weather has been great this fall, we know winter comes knocking on the door this time of year.  Thank you for reading the plans and staying in tune to the weather and our communications this winter.
A reminder that our phone alert system has changed this school year.  On 10/08/24, we shared information on how to update or add a new parent/guardian phone number into the system.  If you still need assistance to ensure that you receive weather notifications, please call the school or district offices.
We do not make-up school for the first day or up to 7 hours missed because of winter weather.  After the first cancellation or 7 hours, we will use our two make-up dates on the school calendar (May 22 and 23).  If we miss more than three days of school or an equivalent of 21 school hours, we will consider other options such as adding make-up days, extending the school day, or having a virtual learning school day.  Please know that we will communicate these other options, as necessary, throughout the winter.
Earlier this week, we sent an email sharing our winter clothing requirements for students riding on school buses and/or district vehicles (see letter attached).  Please help us keep students safe and healthy throughout the winter by sending them to school with the proper clothing (bus or no bus).  We have several organizations in Valley City that are available to assist students and families with clothing needs, including winter weather clothing. If you would like this information, contact our school or district offices.
If you have any questions about our winter weather plans, feel free to contact me or our district office at 701-845-0483.
