FARGO – Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Basketball had a great opportunity for the second straight season to play an NCAA Division I team on Friday, but the NDSU Bison took full advantage of it.

Abby Krzewinski scored 15 points and Minley Simon scored 13 with seven rebounds as NDSU topped Jamestown 88-50 at Scheels Center.

Sam Paulson and Jailyn Martinson each scored seven to lead the Jimmies, for whom the game was an exhibition.  Hannah Hagel and Reagan Johnson scored six each.  Kate Cordes, who was third in NAIA scoring through Friday at 26.5 points per game, was held to two points.

Jamestown had the game tied three times early in the first quarter and a Jayden Wiest three-pointer had UJ down just 21-18 with 54 seconds left in the period.  But Simon nailed a three for NDSU (2-1) and the Bison led 24-18 after 10 minutes.

That started a 15-2 run that put NDSU ahead 36-20 just over two and a half minutes into the second quarter.  Later, Jamestown cut their deficit to 11 twice before the Bison led 44-29 at halftime and 66-39 through three quarters.

Jamestown (3-1) will return to regular season play Tuesday with their regular season home opener against Minot State at Harold Newman Arena.  Coverage will begin at 5:30 PM on Tuesday on The Voice of the Jimmies, Jamestown 107.1.
