VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner volleyball team saw it’s season end Thursday in the second round of the EDC tournament.
Valley City lost an elimination matchup to the sixth-seeded Grand Forks Red River 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-20), ending their season at 19-15.
Red River jumped to a commanding lead in the opening set, and did so in each set. The Hi-Liners rallied in the second, cutting a nine-point lead to three, and rallied again in the fourth, tying the set at 19-19 after trailing by eight.
The Roughriders won six of seven rallies to end the match.
Kadie Kocka led the Hi-Liners with 12 kills.
Valley City will lose three seniors, Jovi Borg, Ava Huesby, and Bailey Leroux. Kocka will lead a talented group of underclassmen into the middle division of a three-tier system for volleyball in 2025.
