The Valley City Hi-Liners faced off against the Davies Eagles in the EDC Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals, with the winner advancing to meet either West Fargo Sheyenne or Grand Forks Red River. The losing team would move to the elimination round on Thursday.

Valley City kept pace with Davies early in the first set, showing marked improvement from their previous game against Grand Forks Central. The Hi-Liners pulled within one point at 17-16, but a Davies timeout sparked an 8-3 Eagles run to secure a 1-0 lead.

The second set was more one-sided, with Davies taking control early and coasting to a 25-12 win. In the third set, Valley City rallied, narrowing the score to 22-20. However, another well-timed Davies timeout halted the Hi-Liners’ momentum, and the Eagles clinched the set 25-20, sealing a straight-sets victory.

Valley City’s next match is Thursday, a rematch against Grand Forks Red River at 6 p.m.
