DECORAH, IA – Two University of Jamestown wrestlers finished in the top five in their weight classes Saturday as Jimmie Women’s Wrestling took part in its first event of the season, the Luther Open at the Regents Center at Luther College.

Rayanne Mutchler, at 235 pounds, finished third and was 2-2.  Her wins were both pins, in 1:29 over Fernanda Miranda of Joliet Junior College and in 2:08 over Destine’e Thomas of North Iowa Area Community College.

Ann Marie Meiman was fifth at 138 pounds and won five of her six matches.  Meiman pinned Emily Angelo of Iowa Central CC and won by a 12-1 tech fall over Cieanna Ficken of Hawkeye CC.  She then lost a tech fall to Quincy’s Madeline Barton, but then won three matches to finish fifth.  Meiman pinned Mattie Papenthien of Dubuque, won 10-2 over Anna Strand of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and pinned Emma Gruenhagen in only 33 seconds in the fifth-place match.

Abby Ewing had two wins at 131 pounds.  Other UJ winners were Jenna Baarson (117), Leah Willard (160) and Grace Todhunter (207).

Jamestown will wrestle in a dual at the University of Sioux Falls on Friday.
